Press Release
External Affairs Committee to Discuss Proposed Resolution on the Single-Family Definition.
SGA will formally begin a student voting drive tomorrow (4/14) at the Student Activities Fair.
· The newly-formed External Affairs Committee will discuss a proposed resolution on A-CC’s Single Family Definition on Tuesday (4/14) at 7 PM in the Tate Student Center.
· This new resolution was written by Chris Hoofnagle, and is cosponsored by Steve Pitts, Student Body Vice President.
· For the resolution to pass, it must first clear the External Affairs Committee. If the resolution passes Tuesday night, it will be placed on the agenda for the general body meeting on Tuesday, March 21st.
· The creation of the External Affairs Committee marks the formal introduction of students into A-CC politics. Our long-term goals are to register students to vote in A-CC, raise awareness among students of A-CC’s political landscape, and to eventually support a student bid for the A-CC commission.
· Our principal goal is to raise student standing and quality of life in A-CC. We no longer wish to be second-class citizens in a town where we volunteer extensively, support local businesses, and pay inflated sales taxes to support the community.
· An agenda for the meeting, and a copy of the proposed resolution is attached. SGA info is online at www.arches.uga.edu/~choof.
· The SGA will formally begin a student voting drive tomorrow at the Tate Student Center from 11-4. Please encourage students to come to the activities fair, and register to vote.
