Dear Commissioner Kilpatrick:

Thank you for coming to the SGA presentation last Wednesday night.

I received a brochure on the Neighborhood Traffic Management Program (NTMP), which you spoke of last Wednesday.  The plan looks good, and I could have committee members get the petitions signed and build neighborhood support.  Thank you for sending the brochure to me.

However, a call to Mr. Clark in the Traffic Engineering Division revealed that the Neighborhood Traffic Management Program is not available for Lumpkin Street.

The Lumpkin Street area does not qualify as a neighborhood for the purposes of NTMP.  (It apparently does not matter that several hundred students live in fraternity houses on Lumpkin between Baxter and Broad.)

Mr. Clark said that the Master Plan will address Lumpkin Street safety concerns.  However, the Master Plan has not been approved by the Regents, and it won’t be curative for many years.

If you think we should initiate NTMP on Lumpkin Street, we will.  However, Mr. Clark suggested that the Commission would not allow NTMP on Lumpkin.

Regards,
