SENATE MEETING MINUTES
JANUARY 30, 1991
I Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:40 p.m. Vice-president Ben Calhoun
presided.
II. Open Forum
III. Roll Call
Senators absent, excused were Whaley and Wang. Senator Tlggler was
absent, unexcused.
IV. Swearing in of New Senators
Graduate senators Mark Hatfield, Kirk Gilliard and Debbie McDonald
were given the oath of office.
V. Reading of Minutes
It was moved 'to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the previous
meeting.
VI. Committee Reports
A. Academic Affairs
1. Dead Days proposal is still in committee
2. Rob Claxton is serving on the spirit committee for football
games.
3. African- American Studies - is being discussed with Dr.
Leslie Bates, director of the cultural center.
B. Internal Affairs
1. There is one more graduate senator to be inducted next
week, as well as a new senioor senator.
2. The proposal regarding the bylaws will be voted upon
tonight.
3. Ashley Disque is working with the general committee
members. Several have expressed an interest in lobbying.
4. Communication liaison proposal - proposal to be voted on.
C. Student Life
1. Earth day - in committee
2. PE requirements - in committee
3. Community service - in committee
4. Students Against Campus Crime - in committee
5. Spacenter update - Governor Miller has made it a priority
bond issue.
6. Organization social - in committee
7. VOTE '91 in committee
8. I'm Drivin may be co-sponsorcd iwth Budweiser -
meeting on Friday
9. Restaurant of the Month - in committee
10. Student Discount card - is on the way.
